Vexations Shallow Bowls (Set of 4)

Shipping and taxes calculated at checkout. Free U.S. shipping on orders over $200.

Description

The Vexations designs are a whimsical celebration of the dominant fact of modern life—that each new day seems to bring some fresh exasperation.

Each bowl includes designs from Don Moyer's sketchbook featuring different calamities: Invasive Species, Ambling Armadillos, Fuzzy the Merciless, and Grabby the Grabber.

Sold only in sets of four. Each set contains four different shallow porcelain bowls to go with your Calamityware dinnerware.

Note: the Vexations bowls are a teensy bit larger than our previous shallow bowls (Fly, Now What?).

Dimensions & More Info
  • 9” diameter (22.8 cm) rim to rim, well is about 0.75" deep (2 cm).
  • Holds 8 ounces (237 mL) of liquid.
  • Rich blue images on white porcelain.
  • Designed by Don Moyer and initially launched as his 66th Kickstarter project in 2023.
  • Produced using the in-glaze decoration process. That means the image is slightly melted into the surface like the fine porcelain you see in museums.
  • Remember, each bowl design is different—four different borders and images. The blues in this set of bowls will match each other. And, although they will look good with your other Calamityware tableware, the blues may be slightly different because they were fired at different times.
  • Made at the award-winning Cmielow porcelain workshop in Poland.
  • The Vexations plates are 0.25" (0.6 cm) larger in diameter than our previous shallow bowls (Fly, Now What?). The size difference won't be obvious on the table but you might notice the variation when you stack them or pull out a ruler.

            Where it's made

These porcelain pieces are fired in Poland at one of the oldest and most accomplished porcelain workshops in the world. The Cmielow team traces their start to 1790. Work from these craftspeople can be found in museums and in the palaces of royalty. Our porcelain designs are in-glaze, which means slightly melted into the surface of the piece, to ensure a beautiful crisp image for years to come.

            Great set!

I purchased these through a Kickstarter campaign and as soon as they came in, I had to purchase more. Then, once those were in, I talked my husband into replacing all of our dishware with Calamityware! The pieces are sturdy, interesting, and always bring about conversation. If you're on the fence about purchasing, I can tell you right now that you should get these. Now I'm off to say the same thing about the small plates, which are also amazing!
